Verona Area School District – High School

Create a strategic, district-wide facilities master plan as district enrollment continues to grow

With aging facilities, crowding and projected enrollment growth, Verona Area School District partnered with EUA to conduct a district-wide facilities assessment and establish a long-range facilities master plan. Voters passed a referendum to build a new high school and convert the existing high school into a middle school and the existing middle school into the elementary school. A Visionary Design Team (VDT) was established to provide insight and develop guiding principles for the new high school.

The new high school provides an adaptable and vibrant modern learning environment focused on creating a safe place promoting the physical and emotional
well-being of students. At the heart of the building is a three-story atrium to encourage socialization and collaboration. Classrooms are designed to incorporate small group and breakout spaces while corridors and circulation areas act as extensions of the learning environment. Responsive to the natural environment, the new high school maximizes views and daylighting, even offering outdoor learning spaces.
