UW-Eau Claire Towers Hall
Creating comfortable and modern housing options for students
UW-Eau Claire was facing an almost 15-year severe shortage of beds on campus. The largest dorms, Towers North and Towers South, were built in the 1960’s and had been flexed to accommodate students above capacity. The EUA team led the client through an interactive process that established priorities, provided a broad range of options and resulted in a design and budget concept that will allow the University to achieve significant improvements to these two halls.
The final solution complements other new student housing coming onto campus and results in maintaining the original bed count and heavy infrastructure updates to the facility. The bathrooms are being reconfigured to meet code and provide enhanced privacy to occupants, as well as replacement of the existing elevator equipment gear, windows and addition of air conditioning. The project is phased to happen over 2 years, limiting disruption to the towers and the ability to hold residents.
