University of Florida Health Ocala Neighborhood Hospital
Increase access to services through a free-standing community hospital + clinic space
Expanding their footprint and market share, University of Florida Health (UFH) is building a new community hospital and outpatient clinic in Ocala, Florida. EUA, in collaboration with Covider Health, is designing a new three-story building which includes a free-standing community hospital/surgery center/Imaging center on the first floor and two floors of clinical space above. The site is master planned to allow for expansion and additional buildings to meet future growth. This highly visible building, located right off a major interstate in central Florida, will expand access to critical health services and specialized clinic services within the community.
With efficiency in mind, the hospital is designed to easily allow staff to flow between ED and inpatient departments, while having the flexibility to use inpatient beds as overflow. An internal courtyard between two portions of the building creates views and increases daylight within the space to elevate the patient experience. The building exterior was designed with like features from other UFH locations, with the intent to create a building that extended the UFH brand through familiar architecture. In addition, the exterior envelope has been designed to increase thermal efficiency and accommodate future solar panel arrays on all roofs. To further reduce energy consumption, a VRF mechanical system is utilized at the clinic levels.
