United Power Carbon Valley Service Center

United Power (UP), a rural, co-op owned energy company, purchased an existing manufacturing building to serve its customers in the western territory. As part of a design-build team, EUA worked closely with UP to design a facility that includes a skylight-filled warehouse / garage, as well as office space for support personnel, a work room for technicians and secure payment center. The project also includes a hardened dispatch center, allowing UP to continue to operate in the event of a natural disaster.

As a way of giving back to the people they serve, UP incorporated a community center with a large meeting room reservable by members. To celebrate the company’s history and showcase their brand to visiting members, the lobby displays historical artifacts, such as electric meters, transformers and components from old transmission lines. A bridge crane structural support and rings of demolished conduit were salvaged and utilized as a branding display.
