OAW - Brookfield Square
Expanding orthopaedic services with a highly-visible site focused on patient convenience
To accommodate an increased demand for orthopaedic care, Orthopaedic Associates of Wisconsin (OAW) worked with EUA to design their new two-story, outpatient facility at the Brookfield Square campus. Strategically positioned within the bustling retail center, the location creates high visibility for OAW, while providing convenient access to amenities for patients and families. Informed by the site, the building's shape - with a dramatic angled corner - draws attention from multiple vantage points.
Services are aligned on each floor on patient flow and accessibility. Exam rooms, cast rooms and diagnostic X-Ray/MRI are located on the first floor for initial patient visits, with services for subsequent visits such as physical therapy and pain management on the second floor.
The design integrates hospitality-minded, first impression spaces with a refined, urban palette and motif, juxtaposed with wood accents. Inside, guests and patients are greeted by a light-filled, exposed lobby with a monumental stair and full-height glass. The center-stringer stair is reminiscent of a spine with the tread supports indicative of vertebrae. A variety of glass types and screenwall partitions used throughout the PT space contribute to patient privacy, while creating a comfortable and convenient environment for patients.
EUA also designed OAW's first location in Pewaukee.
