Froedtert Pleasant Prairie Hospital Outpatient Surgery Center
Designs with expansion and cohesion in mind while on accelerated schedules
Driven by nearby competition, Froedtert South wanted to develop an independent surgery center to expand services and improve patient experience and retention. The four-story advanced surgical wing addition to St. Catherine’s Campus will accompany the four-story multi-tenant Medical Office Building (MOB) that EUA completed on the site in 2011.
To maintain a cohesive aesthetic across St. Catherine’s campus with the Advanced Surgical Wing, EUA incorporated elements from the existing surrounding exteriors into the new design. The wing features a grand lobby, lounge and café, courtyard, registration and waiting area, private preoperative suites, eight surgical suites and recovery areas.
During the original design process for the MOB, EUA found opportunities to shorten the schedule for completing construction documents. With the client, construction manager and EUA working together, the team trimmed 11 weeks off the production schedule. In addition, multiple bid packages allowed construction to begin almost six months earlier than initially planned. By taking volume out of the existing hospital, EUA helped make services more accessible to patients through a cohesive freestanding medical building.
