Froedtert Pleasant Prairie Hospital
Designs with expansion and cohesion in mind while on accelerated schedules
Driven by nearby competition, Froedtert South wanted to expand services and improve patient experience and retention with a new surgery center. The four-story Outpatient Surgery Center addition to Froedtert Pleasant Prairie Hospital's campus accompanies the four-story multi-tenant Medical Office Building (MOB) that EUA completed on the site in 2011.
To maintain a cohesive aesthetic across the hospital's campus with the addition of this new wing, EUA incorporated elements from the existing surrounding exteriors into the new design. The wing features a grand lobby, lounge and café, courtyard, registration and waiting area, private preoperative suites, eight surgical suites and recovery areas.
By taking volume out of the existing hospital, EUA helped make services more accessible to patients through a cohesive freestanding medical building. During the original design process for the MOB, EUA found opportunities to shorten the schedule for completing construction documents. The multi-tenant MOB was designed to allow for future expansion in subsequent phases, both vertically and horizontally.
