Effectv – Walnut Creek
Taking advantage of the constraints to create an attractive office environment
Effectv (formerly Comcast Spotlight) was in need of additional space for their downtown San Francisco office. The solution was to relocate half of their staff to a new suburban office in Walnut Creek. One of the major concerns with this sizable transition was employee satisfaction and ensuring that the space met past staff expectations of an urban office.
Having designed several Effectv workspaces, the EUA team understood the balance between a space that meets the national corporate design standards for Effectv, but also creates a uniquely custom workspace for the Walnut Creek location. Located within an existing structure the geometric floor plate presented challenges with an existing structural element within the center of the space, the design team was able to transition these into opportunities through the use of angular walls and circular elements to turn the axis along the entry, creating a sense of arrival for visitors. The design for the new space focused on fostering collaboration and providing adequate work spaces for a variety of work styles to improve employee experience.
