Dominican High School
Transforming a front entrance to create a welcoming first impression
Dominican High School (DHS) needed to update their facility to mirror the academic excellence they offer. Board members and school staff’s priorities included improving wayfinding by increasing spaces in a renovated parking lot, relocating and updating administration offices, creating ADA accessibility, and improved safety in the foyer area. Transforming the front entrance provided a welcoming first impression for potential and current students and families.
Accessibility to the auditorium and second-floor gymnasium was improved creating a more open, double-height stairway. A private donation of $500k provided additional funds to update the theater, auditorium and backstage amenities, including sinks in the dressing rooms, wardrobes for storage, and counters with mirrors and improved lighting. The cafeteria received several renovations and updates to modernize the common space into more of a cafe experience. EUA created additional informal gathering spaces for students to hang out by widening hallways and providing more inviting, flexible furniture options for multiple uses, fostering interaction and a sense of community.
