CSU Natural Resources Research Center*
Design 3 buildings that will coexist with the surrounding campus + consolidate offices for the NRRC
Positioned on the campus for the Centre for Advanced Technology site at Colorado State University, three buildings were designed to consolidate and house the Natural Resources Research Center (NRRC), including the Animal + Plant Health Sciences branch of the USDA. One of the buildings consolidated several offices of the USDA across the country into a single research center. The NRRC campus is structured around a large courtyard formed by the perimeter of campus buildings and landscaping elements. This courtyard allows for pedestrian travel between buildings.
The site accommodates the majority of the campus water quality and detention wetlands using xeriscape and other natural planting techniques. Wings connect buildings by an aluminum and glass curtainwall system. Exterior gathering space is provided at the north lobby terrace.
