Charter Communications VCSII
Expand Charter’s campus presence by designing an open concept workspace to support multiple departments
After a merger with Time Warner, Charter Communications became the second largest telecommunications company in the U.S. This 12-story build-to-suit helped address Charter’s substantial operational growth. Village Center Station II (VCSII) has become the campus anchor for Charter’s surrounding office spaces.
After carefully studying their existing offices, touring new spaces, and holding programming / visioning sessions with each department, it was clear that Charter wanted a fresh, progressive and dynamic workplace design for their growing culture and brand. With an emphasis on ‘democratic daylighting,’ the open floor plan features centrally located offices that float among surrounding workstations. The overall flow encourages casual encounters, collaboration and engagement. Inspired by one of Charter’s brands, Spectrum, the interior finishes and architectural geometry speak to the striated nature of the color spectrum. Hints of color are found throughout to help differentiate the 12 floors.
