Creating a sense of home and comfort
Completed over three phases to minimize disruption, this project expands services and provides a continuum of care with a new construction 48-unit short-term rehabilitation center, a new 24-unit Community Based Retirement Facility, as well as a new rehabilitation gym.
Larger resident rooms allow for greater personalization with high-quality finishes and ample daylight that create an atmosphere of tranquility. The bistro, a former centralized nursing pod, provides seating options and a fireplace, offering a completely different experience for residents, encouraging interaction while providing a sense of independence.
Spaces for those with dementia were renovated using research-based design strategies to reduce confusion and engage memory. Two wings are connected, forming a loop with a secure centralized courtyard, providing safe outdoor space. Memory boxes outside of each resident room are filled with personal belongings, engaging memory and helping caregivers learn more about their residents.
