Unique project led by Mortenson Development with design by EUA
DENVER, CO – Mortenson, a leading construction and real estate development company in Colorado, today announced it has broken ground on its latest development project, a 30,000-square-foot civic center that will be the first commercial building within the Sterling Ranch master planned community, setting the standard for future commercial growth.
“Mortenson Development is excited to help this incredible community enter the next phase of its development,” said Taber Sweet, development executive for Mortenson. “This first commercial building at Sterling Ranch is a milestone in that our largest tenant, UCHealth, will be the first health system to offer outpatient health care services to residents in the area.”
The project was designed by Eppstein Uhen Architects (EUA), who has expanded to the Denver-area through its recent acquisition of Burkettdesign, now BurkettEUA, located in downtown Denver. The civic center’s design is meant to be an inspiring landmark within the community, created with a mix of natural materials to emulate the scenic location contrasted by a bold stainless steel skin on the civic hall, providing an iconic presence for Sterling Ranch.
“Working on this project has been truly rewarding. The Sterling Ranch property is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to create a place like no other in the Denver area.” said Greg Uhen, CEO of EUA.
Created to be an iconic landmark within this new community, the civic center will feature business space, a community room and exhibit hall. A second-floor deck overlooks the neighborhood and offers views to the mountains. Additionally, the community will be able to enjoy the on-site display gardens and walking paths located around the site. Work by Mortenson Construction is underway with the delivery of the completed building scheduled for spring of 2018.
