MILWAUKEE, WI, December, 2020 — Eppstein Uhen Architects (EUA) has presented the non-profit organizations of Artists Working in Education in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Urban Peak in Denver, Colorado with grants of $15,000 each, payable over a three-year period.
This grant supports Artists Working in Education (awe-inc.org) in expansion of their community garden with various sculpture projects while also continuing to encourage professional artists to display art pieces across the city of Milwaukee including in and around schools, community centers, and playgrounds to nurture the imagination of today’s youth.
For Urban Peak (urbanpeak.org) this grant means progressing towards their mission to “ignite the potential in youth to exit homelessness and create self-determined, fulfilled lives.” They do so by providing teenagers and young adults ages 15 to 24 who are experiencing homelessness or at risk of becoming homeless with essential aid. Services such as an overnight shelter, a daytime drop-in center, and street outreach are just a few of the resources they offer at little or no cost.
To determine the selected charities, each year, EUA solicits input from employees across all their offices to nominate local non-profits for consideration; an internal group from across the firm then reviews and determines the final selected grant recipients.
The Eppstein Uhen Foundation’s mission is to improve the livelihoods of the people in our local communities where we live, work and play. EUA strives to provide help where it is needed most with an emphasis on our youth, positioning them to meet their full potential through skill and strength development to pursue their life-long aspirations and foster long-term growth.
