Milwaukee: Eppstein Uhen Architects (EUA) announced on Friday, August 12 they have entered into an agreement for the acquisition of KINDNESS Architecture + Planning. The seven-member staff will be relocating to EUA’s Milwaukee headquarters. Scott Kindness, owner of KINDNESS Architecture + Planning will be taking a leadership role as Director of EUA’s Living Environments studio. This studio of over 25 dedicated staff works with multi-family, mixed use and senior living clients. As a past EUA employee, working with the firm in the residential studio for nine years in the 1990’s, Kindness said of returning to the firm “It’s a wonderful opportunity. I have found that we are not just ‘like-minded,’ we are ‘same-minded’ in the way we approach our clients and people. During my career I have found my passion in mentoring others, and this leadership role allows me to make a larger impact in the life of staff, clients, and the community”
In addition to filling an essential leadership role at EUA, the decision to acquire Scott’s firm was founded on their similarities; in business philosophy – how clients are treated, in management – their focus on employee experience and in their shared values – of doing the right thing.
Scott Kindness’ Living environments experience is intended to help the firm continue growth in this market sector, building upon its Midwest portfolio of projects with work in over 5 states ranging from Michigan to Oklahoma. Rich Tennessen, President of EUA stated “Over the years we have kept in contact with Scott and are impressed with what he and his firm have accomplished. Adding Scott and his employees allows us to offer additional capacity and capabilities to our clients in and outside of Wisconsin.”
This acquisition is part of a long-term growth plan for the firm to strengthen their current marketplace position, determine emerging markets and build staff strength, while continuing to provide the level of quality design and service EUA is known for. EUA, Milwaukee’s largest architecture firm, has additional market focus in workplace, healthcare, education and science + technology. The company is well known as a Top Workplace and has become a destination for top talent in the industry. Greg Uhen, CEO said, “I have known Scott for many years and have followed his work with admiration. He’s a great guy, and a great fit. We are delighted to have him back on our team.”
