Lacking space to expand the senior living campus in Dubuque, Iowa, a master plan was created for a satellite campus, Luther Manor Asbury. Located a mile from the current campus, the satellite campus allows Luther Manor to expand their assisted living, skilled nursing, and rehabilitation services. Luther Manor’s overarching mission is to provide a safe environment where individuals can age in place gracefully with as much independence as possible.
To provide a contemporary senior care community in a supporting environment, a household model of design was implemented with an exterior design aesthetic that complemented the surrounding neighborhood. The unique layout enhances the Luther Manor Asbury campus’ desirability with the household design giving residents the feel of being at home with large private bedrooms and full threepiece bathrooms. Additionally, the household layout provides secure access for residents and family members to the exterior courtyards. The courtyards feature sensoryenhancing landscaping and reduce travel distances for residents and caregivers, enabling residents to get more expeditious service and efficacious care. The open-concept kitchens allow residents to easily interact while providing clear lines of sight for caregivers.
The various amenities, from the state-of-the-art wellness gym, featuring physical and occupational therapy and a therapy pool to the communal family dining and celebration space, allow residents to access the care necessary while thriving in a social environment.
Embracing a resident-oriented model of care, the campus optimizes household size, operational efficiencies, and an environment that is designed to provide a sense of place, belonging, and independence.
