Ascension Wisconsin plans to build a $7.8 million clinic in Shorewood that will expand its primary care and women’s health services.
The planned Ascension Columbia St. Mary’s Milwaukee at Shorewood clinic on Oakland Avenue will include lab, X-ray and ultrasound services.
The health system plans to renovate the former Sendik's grocery store at 4027 N. Oakland Ave.
The four full-time primary care providers at the health system's existing clinic at 1901 E. Capitol Drive will move to the 15,000-square-foot clinic once construction is completed.
“Ascension Columbia St. Mary’s Milwaukee has provided care to families in Shorewood for more than 30 years and we recognize the importance of growing to meet the needs of the communities we are privileged to serve” Kim Merriman, a family medicine physician with Ascension Medical Group, said in a statement. “This new clinical space will expand access to primary care services and bring women’s health services closer to home.”
Construction is expected to begin by the end of this year and the clinic is expected to open next summer.
Last month, Ascension Wisconsin, the second-largest health system in Wisconsin, announced that it planned to build a $42 million medical center in Mount Pleasant. The center will include an outpatient surgery center and medical office building.
