Senior Design Architect - Learning Environments - Milwaukee

Milwaukee, WI

Eppstein Uhen Architects, Inc. (EUA) is seeking an experienced design leader in our Learning Environments Market.  This person should be capable of solving complex design problems within a collaborative atmosphere with 10+ years of experience in Architectural Design and Planning.  Reporting to the Studio Director, this person will be a fully competent Architect in most conventional aspects as well as broad areas of assignments and sizes of projects.  This position will be filled in one of our Milwaukee or Madison Offices.

Overview

Eppstein Uhen Architects, Inc. (EUA) is seeking an experienced design leader in our Learning Environments Market.  This person should be capable of solving complex design problems within a collaborative atmosphere with 10+ years of experience in Architectural Design and Planning.  Reporting to the Studio Director, this person will be a fully competent Architect in most conventional aspects as well as broad areas of assignments and sizes of projects.  This position will be filled in one of our Milwaukee or Madison Offices.

The Fundamentals

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.

  • Must have strong public presentation skills
  • Presents to Boards of Directors and other key stakeholders
  • Works with client to establish a thorough understanding of project goals and drivers
  • Leads design team to author design concepts and design objectives
  • Develops innovative design solutions tailored to each project and circumstance
  • Propels the design as necessary to maintain that client goals and drivers are delivered within budget and schedule
  • Directs and develops preparation of Presentation and Design Drawings using current techniques and technology, including manual and digital tools such as SketchUp, Rhino, Revit, Lumion, Enscape, Photoshop, InDesign, etc.
  • Is a strong collaborator who provides mentoring and direction to internal project team with respect to design
  • Runs and participates in design reviews, design crits, and other informal pin-ups
  • Selection and knowledge of current and appropriate materials and products
  • Effectively communicates with clients, consultants and internal teams, both in written and oral format
  • Responsible for understanding of specific market trends, influences and innovations
  • Ability to work at different scales - from Master Planning to Fine Detailing
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude and exhibit integrity
  • Exceptional organization and communication skills
  • Ability to solve problems proactively and prioritize tasks and assignments

The Fine Print:

  • 10+ years of experience
  • Specific experience in K-12 and other education market projects preferred
  • Is an innovative thinker and creative problem solver
  • Experience in multiple building types and markets is desirable
  • LEED Accredited (or pursuing accreditation) or possesses a strong understanding of sustainable design, energy modeling, and building systems
  • Excellent graphic and communication skills
  • Experience using Revit, Sketchup, or Rhino and related software is preferred
  • Experience with visualization/VR collaboration tools such as Enscape, Lumion, Prospect, etc. is desirable
