After 25 years of dedicated leadership at Eppstein Uhen Architects (EUA), Steve Holzhauer AIA, Project Development + Principal, is setting his sights on a well-deserved retirement. Steve has been a vital contributor to the growth of EUA from opening the Madison office to project management to designing projects.  Throughout his time at EUA Steve has strived to deliver high quality design paired with excellent customer service while working on projects that he is passionate about.

Although we are sad to see him go, Steve has many adventures planned for retirement, “It won’t be hard to keep busy. I have plans to travel more with my wife to visit national parks, historic sites, museums, architectural masterpieces, and eat at Triple-D restaurants—diners, drive-ins and dives. I also plan to take my 2003 Harley-Davidson full bagger around Lake Superior soon and spend time mentoring middle school and high school students about architecture and design as a professional career.”

We asked Steve about the hardest part with leaving EUA, and he talked about how much he has enjoyed being part of the firm’s evolution since he joined EUA in April 1996. “I’ll miss the big projects, good client relationships and of course the camaraderie of our teams when we are building something special. I’ll miss the prestige of being associated with a firm that has earned respect from all corners, respect earned by the many excellent projects our teams delivered and continue to deliver.”

Steve is planning to start retirement Friday, April 30th, after this we encourage all his contacts to reach out to John S. Chapman.
