The Milwaukee Bucks, Milwaukee School of Engineering and Milwaukee Public Schools Foundation's STEM academy for girls has a mission to increase the number of women pursuing the fields of science, technology, engineering and math. During the academy, MSOE professors and staff teach lessons on the STEM fields including coding and computer science, architecture and construction management and biomedical engineering and medicine.
EUA's Kelsey Webb spoke to the group of 30 MPS girls, grades 6-8, who are staying in the MSOE dorms during the week-long academy. During her presentation, the group had a great conversation about the multiple opportunities for minority girls to get involved in any career dream they have and the importance of understanding their potential is limitless.
Additionally, Kelsey brought along custom cookies featuring words that describe their potential and the girls enjoyed coming up and choosing a cookie that most accurately described them.
