Innovative space to support hands-on learning
After Fox Valley Technical College (FVTC) passed a $66.5 million referendum in April 2012, the school wanted to improve how it assisted the thousands of diverse students that pass through its doors for workplace readiness. Working with EUA, solutions were developed to apply new concepts and technology to their learning environments. With curriculum focused on tangible job skills, environments were created to facilitate real-world situations and problem solving.
Transforming what works in other industries for this Active Learning environment, inspiration was drawn from diverse organizations like Apple, Patagonia, and Whole Foods to bring industry-leading concepts into the space. Elements like a “Genius Bar,” concierge services, no appointment coaching and tutoring, flexible teaming/study spaces, integrated technology and reduction of static book stacks are all ways this innovative support space is programmed for future student success.
