Overview : A Sign Of The Times : Celebrating 100 Years

In 1907 at the young age of 22, William G. Herbst opened his own architecture practice in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Over the years, the small firm developed strong client relationships that helped to sustain the business through two world wars, the Great Depression, and the recession of the early 1980s. With the seamless transition from one president to the next over the past century, Eppstein Uhen Architects has grown to become one of Wisconsin’s largest and most diverse architectural practices.

In 2007 EUA celebrated its centennial anniversary, marking 100 years of inspired design, client-centered service, and commitment to the community. We invite you to take a look back at the evolution of our firm and hope you’ll join us as we look ahead, with great anticipation, to the next 100 years of success!

Quote from Founder

“It has been our aim so to plan all of our buildings so that they would serve the special need which prompted their erection. And yet withal, it has also been our constant endeavor to keep alive the ‘expiring spark of beauty’ and to clothe all movements with some form of grace. We have, however, not let our solicitude for this quality overshadow the problems of practical consideration. Rather, a blending of the two has been sought for.”
