Route Maps
A route map will be provided for each rider the day of the ride. We will be taking paved roads.
The map will include key phone numbers for key contacts, other riders, support vehicles, etc.
We will be riding “two up” or side by side for most of the route. We will be following all traffic laws and everyone must wear a helmet in order to ride. There are a few short areas where there is no bike lane. Please ride single file under these conditions and space groups apart so cars can pass safely.
Please take time to review the instructions about group riding and etiquette here.
Attire
Most riders will have an EUA Beyond Design Bike Tour jersey. We ask that everyone wear the jersey for the ride.
Helmets are mandatory for all riders.
If you want to have a change of clothes after the ride, please tag your bag with your name in advance. There will be no showers available this year.
Bikes
Bikes will be carefully transported as necessary, and pads for the bikes will be provided.
Last year there were no issues with transporting the bikes, however, due to the charity
nature of the ride, everyone is using the transport at their own risk.
If you have not recently had a tune up, please have one done prior to the ride. There may be some opportunity for final adjustments in Milwaukee before the ride begins.
Rider Support
Paratech Ambulance has donated their services and will provide an Ambulance with EMT support for the ride.
Mechanics and a sag vehicle are being provided.
Machinery Row Bicycles is providing mechanics and support from Lake Mills to Madison.
Several area bicycle retailers and industry members are generously
lending their support, time and expertise to the Beyond Design Bike Tour:
Transition Cycle, Wheel and Sprocket, REI, SRAM, and Team Sports to name a few.
Look for other supporting bike professionals and special incentives in your email as the spring and summer approach.
There will be an EUA representative at each of the starting points, and emergency contact numbers will be listed on your route map.
Water and Gatorade will be available to fill your bottles at the start of the race. Food and beverage will be provided by our sponsors and hosts at each rest stop. You will also receive a Beyond Design Tour ‘08 water bottle in your ride package along with your jersey. So make sure to save one of your bottle racks for that!
Waivers
All riders must sign a waiver prior the ride. Most of you should have already signed one or agreed to the waiver electronically.
No one under the age of 18 may ride.
Weather
Just a reminder that this is a rain-or-shine event.
After-Ride Party
The party will include food and drink for the riders, announcements, a silent auction, and an opportunity to relive the day
with the other riders. Due to space and cost (we want as many funds as possible to go to the foundation), we ask that
riders do not invite guests.
